Custom fiberglass aircraft sculpture, 8.4 meters long, designed and manufactured for Hong Kong Ping Shan Wax Museum. From 3D design and prototype development to detailed section drawings, production, transportation, and final installation, our factory handled the complete manufacturing process.
This 8.4-meter fiberglass aircraft sculpture was custom-made for the Hong Kong Ping Shan Wax Museum.
The project required more than simply producing a large sculpture. Because of the size of the aircraft and the limited dimensions of the building's elevator, the sculpture could not be transported or installed as one complete piece.
We therefore developed the project around the actual site conditions, including the production structure, transportation route, elevator size, and final assembly requirements.
The finished aircraft has become an important visual feature of the venue, combining the appearance of the original aircraft with the practical requirements of a large-scale installation.
The project started with the 3D design.
Before moving into full production, our team reviewed the aircraft shape, proportions, surface details, and overall structure through the 3D model. This allowed us to identify potential production and installation issues at an early stage.
We then produced a small physical prototype to check the shape and details before manufacturing the full-size sculpture.
This step was particularly useful for confirming the aircraft's proportions and making sure the final sculpture would match the original design as closely as possible.
One of the biggest challenges of this project was transportation and installation.
The finished aircraft was approximately 8.4 meters long, but the building elevator was not large enough to accommodate the complete sculpture.
Instead of changing the overall design, we developed a sectional production plan.
The aircraft was divided into multiple smaller sections, and detailed breakdown drawings were prepared for each part. The size of every section was considered according to the elevator dimensions and the actual route to the installation location.
This meant that the sculpture could be produced, transported, moved through the building, and finally assembled on site.
For a large custom sculpture, this type of engineering work is just as important as the appearance of the finished piece.

The aircraft was manufactured using fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP).
FRP was selected because it provides a good balance between structural strength, weight, and flexibility for a large-scale sculpture.
During production, our team worked on the individual sections separately, while paying close attention to the connection points between sections. The goal was to make the joints as clean and unobtrusive as possible after final assembly.
The surface was also finished according to the project's requirements to reproduce the overall appearance and texture of the original aircraft.
After production was completed, the individual sections were carefully packed and transported to Hong Kong.
The sections were then moved into the venue through the available access route and assembled on site.
Because the breakdown plan had been prepared during the design and production stage, the installation team was able to follow the planned assembly sequence and complete the installation successfully.
The final result is an 8.4-meter custom aircraft sculpture that fits the space as planned while maintaining the overall shape and visual details of the original design.
For us, this project was not only about making a large fiberglass sculpture.
It was also about solving a real-world installation problem.
The limited elevator size meant that the sculpture had to be designed with transportation and installation in mind from the beginning. By combining 3D modeling, prototype testing, sectional engineering, fiberglass production, and on-site assembly, we were able to turn a large-scale design into a finished installation.
This is the type of project where close communication between the client, designer, factory, and installation team makes a big difference.
